Week 1 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM Conversions (math session converting from one unit of measure(s) to another, precursor to operator math formulas).Pressure Conversions (math session converting pressure psi to feet of head and feet of head to pressure psi).
6:50 PM – 8:00 PM Introduction to Water Treatment I (practical session discussing water sources, surface and groundwater, source characteristics and treatment methods in removing primary and secondary contaminants, general terms, uses and equipment used in analysis).
Week 2 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM Pound Formula (math session deriving feed rate, chemical dose, flow rate).Volume and Detention Time (math session calculating volumes of basins, pipelines and how to calculation fill rate time).
6:50 PM – 8:00 PM Introduction to Water Treatment Part II (practical session continued on water sources- surface and groundwater and source characteristics and treatment methods in removing primary and secondary contaminants, general terms uses and equipment used in analysis, Pumps (differentiation between velocity and positive displacement pumps and their respective operating components)).
Week 3 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM Continuity / Q = AV (math session deriving flow velocity, area of a pipe diameter and flow). Blending Math (math session calculating flow rates given two different sources with two different concentrations).
6:50 PM – 8:00 PM Pipes, Hydrants, Valves (practical session discussing pipe material and fittings, difference between wet and dry barrels, hydrants color codes, valves types and their uses).
Week 4 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM 4-20 Milliamp Math (math session deriving operating parameters like flow level pressure given a live milliamp signal).
6:50 PM – 8:00 PM Meters, Safety, Cross-Connections (practical session discussing water meter types, their respective applications, basic safety introduction to confined space, trenching, defining cross connection conditions and cross connection valves used to prevent cross connection).
Week 5 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM Miscellaneous Operator Math (math session with a variety of math questions that may or may not be necessarily formula specific).
6:50 PM – 8:00 PM Reservoirs, Services Connections, Lab Equipment (practical session discussing water reservoir types, their respective application in the distribution system, information on lead and copper from water service connections, corrosion control and why, introduction to laboratory equipment used by potable water supplies to analyze water quality).
